NYC Restaurant Review: Amali

July 4, 2012

Eggplant | Calabrian Chili Honey Vinaigrette, Toasted Sesame, Cilantro, Yogurt

For our last dinner, before heading out of the city for the 4th, my husband and I went to Amali, located on 60thbetween Lexington and Park. We were thrilled, that in addition to its convenient (to us) Upper East Side location, both the ambiance and menu were an uptown hybrid of Il Buco and Fat Radish (two of my favorite downtown dining spots). Our server was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about both the dinner menu and wine list (which I might add, emphasized labels from Greece, Lebanon and Spain). Tonight they switched over from their spring menu (below) to summer. So when you do venture there, keep in mind the set-ups to the items below are slightly altered to reflect seasonal summer ingredients.

Dishes to try…

Pancetta, Lonza, or Lardo | Rosemary, Thyme, Black Pepper 7

Buffalo Ricotta | Spring Onion Pesto, Chili, Grilled Ciabatta 13

Octopus a la Plancha | Oregano, Red Wine Vinaigrette 18

Eggplant | Calabrian Chili Honey Vinaigrette, Toasted Sesame, Cilantro, Yogurt 13

Grass Fed Beef | Marcona Almonds, Wild Arugula, White Balsamic Vinegar, Crispy Oysters M/P

The thought and creativity that go into Amali’s menu resemble that of Rouge Tomate, yet their ambiance takes the cake for cozy, farm-to-table, charm. I can’t wait to go back.

Enjoy your holiday weekend and stay tuned for my guest post coming up next week at Happy Pretty Things.
